TCG America's Tina Williams featured in national NAWBO
Spotlight article
NAWBO
Member Tina Williams has been fascinated with computers since
high school. After attending Sullivan University in Lexington,
KY, where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Information
Technology, she began an IT career as an account manager (making
cold call sales) for a Louisville, KY-based computer firm. After
several years, she moved on to another small technology firm in
Lexington, where things took a turn for the worse.
Joining with her current partners, Tina made a leap of faith
(and took a major pay cut) to start TCG America with a $25,000
family investment. TCG America helps businesses by maximizing
network processes, securing the network perimeter and deploying
reliable computer network technologies that help increase
protection, mobility and productivity. Celebrating their
three-year anniversary on May 1st, her company is now debt-free
with sales of close to $500,000. TCG is proud of its loyal
customer base and is poised to grow.
Partnering with NAWBO members from several local chapters, Tina
and TCG America know how to network and market their business.
"Those are two of the reasons why I joined NAWBO," she says.
"But I have found that NAWBO's mission statement is fostered at
every level and I have been privileged to begin a partnership
with one of the founding members of the Lexington chapter."
But, it wasn't always like that. "When I joined, and learned she
was the owner of a competing IT business, I was worried that she
might see me as competition," Tina shares. "Instead, we have
begun a joint business venture and become close friends. The
friendships and mentors are an even bigger benefit to becoming a
NAWBO member."
Tina believes that NAWBO is a huge benefit to women business
owners. "I would encourage new members to get involved," she
says. "Join committees you are interested in and participate in
the meetings and even planning them. These smaller groups give
you a great opportunity to get to know the other members
better."

TCG America is featured in local
Business Lexington article.

"Lexington, KY - When coworkers become lifelong friends, it's a
pretty cool thing. When they turn into business partners, it's
slightly more unusual, but still very cool.
Marcus Simpson, Jeff Thompson and Tina
Williams were working for a computer company in the
early 2000s and a few years later decided they could run their
own information technology business..."
